Where are my login details?

To log in, you just need to click the link we have emailed to you. If you can't find the email, contact us at foundationteam@economist.com. On the day, we'll also have a dedicated support line you can call if you need assistance quickly. The number is 0207 576 8133.

What is Agora?

Agora is an exciting day for you and your students – they'll be immersed in an unfolding news story, which they will make key decisions on throughout the day. The day will be a mixture of videos, in-classroom activities, and online discussion. Your students will get live responses from experts and debate their opinions in real-time with other club members.

This year, the story revolves around government worker, Ana Weber. Ana has blown the whistle and released classified information to a newspaper. The question as to whether she should be punished for doing so will be argued and debated over the course of the day. Your students will hear arguments on either side of the debate and you’ll work together in the classroom and online to discuss these, before making the big decision for Ana: should sharing classified information be punished?

I'm having technical problems / can't play the videos

If you can't play the videos on this site, please tell us as soon as possible. We have an alternative but we need to know what problems you are having so we can help. You can email foundationteam@economist.com before the day. On the day, call the our support number on 0207 576 8133.

We have put together this Troubleshooting document. If you ring our support number, one of our team can talk you through potential problems. You might need to get assistance from your IT department.

What should I tell my students?

Definitely let them know they'll be off-timetable, taking part in an Economist Educational Foundation event. Beyond that, it is up to you. We won't be telling the students that the story and people from Namovia are fictional until the end of the day, so you can do the same if you want.

What do I need to prepare ahead of the day?

You need to book a room with a screen to watch videos on and a computer that your students can access. You also need to make sure your students are off-timetable. We're sending you a Teacher briefing booklet and the checklists on pages 6-7 outline everything you need to do before the event.

Can my students go to lunch at the usual time?

That depends, as you need to stick to the event timings. The lunch break is 12.15-13.15. NB. Students will not be able to attend assembly, registration or tutor periods between 09.00 and 14.45. If there is something that cannot be rescheduled, get in touch, and we can make an alternative arrangement.

What is the maximum number of students that can do it?

We have provided resources for a group of up to 30 students. If you want to run the day with more than one class, please let us know so we can send extra materials.

Where can I find a schedule for the day?

There is a schedule for the day in the Teacher briefing booklet
